Who we are

The Team

One team. Three sub-teams. One goal.

CryptoHawks FRC Team 8726 with their award

The CryptoHawks are made up of students from Urbana High School who design, build, program, and promote a competitive FRC robot every season. Every member belongs to one of three sub-teams — each with its own role, its own challenges, and its own place in making the team work.

Mechanical

Mechanical is where the robot gets built. This sub-team handles the design, fabrication, and assembly of every mechanism on the robot — from drivetrain to game piece manipulators. If it moves on the robot, Mechanical built it.

Students work with CAD software, power tools, and metal stock to bring designs from concept to competition-ready hardware.

Control

Control handles everything that makes the robot think and move. That means programming autonomous routines, writing teleop code, wiring the electrical system, and tuning sensors — all under competition pressure.

Students on this sub-team work in Java, dig into control theory, and are responsible for making sure the robot does exactly what the drivers need it to do.

Partner Relations

Partner Relations is the voice of the CryptoHawks. This sub-team manages sponsor relationships, runs community outreach, handles social media, and makes sure the team has the funding and visibility it needs to compete.

If you're interested in communications, business, marketing, or community engagement — this is your sub-team.
